Fall is my family's favorite season. The leaves are changing colors, it's cooler outside, it's time for comfort food as well as bulk clothing and of course it's time for Football! Another one of our favorite activities is going to various Fall festivals. What's great about Fall festivals is the yummy food, family fun, entertainment and it's always a great way to spend time together as a family! It's our family's way of disconnecting from technology and just enjoying our time together.
Last Sunday we had the opportunity through US Family Guide to visit Amazing Fall Fun in Waterloo Indiana.
I know many of you are like "where in Indiana"?. Waterloo is about 35/40 minutes northeast of Fort Wayne in the northeast corner of the state. The great thing about going to Amazing Fall Fun in Waterloo is when you are done, you can venture down to Fort Wayne and spend some time there.
Amazing Fall Fun has the "largest corn maze in northeastern Indiana"! The corn maze is on 12 acres! Check out the picture below! Now imagine you WALKING through that maze!
As soon as we pulled into the parking lot and my children were greeted by the painted hay bales, the laughter began! The parking is free and the lot is very easy to maneuver which was a great thing because my kids were ready to start our day!
Admission for Amazing Fall Fun is as follows:
Admission - Cash, Visa, MasterCard
Adults 13+: $8.00
Youth 4-12: $6.00
3 & under: Free
Each of your family member will receive a wristband after you've paid for admission.
When you walk through the entrance, you will be greeted with a nice variety of family activities in addition to the maze!
The activities are as follows:
Pumpkin Patch - which features over 75 different types of pumpkins! There were some of the most unique pumpkins I have ever seen. There are wagons available for you to pull along as you walk the patch so when you find the perfect pumpkin and/or gourd for your family, you can purchase it to take home.
Teatherball - Paul and I decided to play this while are children went through Hay Mountain...needless to say his coordination is better than mine!
Pumpkin Checkers & Tic Tac Toe
Tire Mountain - which is the ultimate tire sandbox
and of course the Corn Maze!
When you first go to the maze entrance, you will see lots of information about the maze. You can decided which riddle game or trivia game you want to play in the maze. To participate in the riddle game, as you go through the maze, you will find questions at the Passport stops. You have to write your answers down and then turn in your paper before you leave. Then Amazing Fall Fun will have a drawing at the end of the year and this year the grand prize is....FREE PIZZA once a month for a year!!
Once you enter the maze you can choose to go to Phase 1, which is only about 20 minutes or Phase 2, which is about an hour. Once we decided to do Phase 1 first, our children were off! We have a strategy for going through corn mazes so our eldest, who was in charge of the game as well as being the map reader, was our leader. Before we entered the maze, we had been told to look for a pumpkin hidden inside the maze somewhere. And that if we found the pumpkin, there would be a prize for turning it in. So the "mission" according to F was to "find the pumpkin"! I told F that I thought the "mission" was to get through the maze without getting lost. F looked at me and smiled and replied, "no way it's to find the elusive pumpkin"
We were able to complete Phase 1 in about 15 minutes. We only got turned around a couple of times. Then we were off to be challenged a bit harder in Phase 2!!
Even though we saw the signs for the bridge (which if you click in the picture is at the top of the maze), we somehow missed it. We got turned around a lot more in Phase 2 but there were plenty of signs and maps throughout the maze as well as "Corn Cops" to help you if you got lost.
As we were walking through the maze, F asked us how they would know if someone got lost and what if you were lost in the maze for "weeks". LOL! F definitely has a wild imagination! We told F that there was no way you would be stuck in the maze for weeks. An hour maybe! LOL!
Concessions are available for purchase and they have portable toilets available for use and they have places to sit down. While our children checked out more of the activities, Paul and I were able to sit down and watch our children run and have fun. The laughter from our children as well as from all of the other families that were there was really heartwarming. Such simple fun without electronics!
The staff at Amazing Fall Fun is amazing! They are so friendly and have spent a lot of time and thought in putting together a family attraction that is fun for all ages! We had a terrific time on Sunday afternoon and we will definitely plan to make Amazing Fall Fun a yearly event for our family.
If you are looking for a fun event for the whole family, I highly encourage you to make the trip to Waterloo to check out Amazing Fall Fun!
Amazing Fall Fun has even offered a discount for families! Print off this coupon and bring it with you to the maze to receive $2.00 off each member of your party!
